Our Fabulous Coordinator!
We are excited to welcome our new coordinator to the post! For the first time a graduate of the program is now the coordinator! Avery Larose is an Art History specialist who has studied Canadian Art extensively and teaches Art and Knowledge in the program. She has all the qualities we have come to expect from our coordinators including compassion, intellect, kindness, whimsy, curiosity, a passion for her subject, problem-solving and wit!
Past Coordinators
Eric Laferrière was our coordinator for many years. He shared the job with Meredith and Maria. He holds a PhD in Political Science from McGill University, and is the author and editor of books in his field. He teaches Modern Philosophy in the Liberal Art Program. He also a passionate floor hockey player and a baseball coach.
Maria Mamfredis is our most recent past coordinator of the program. Her doctorate is from the Department of Religion at Concordia University, where she has also taught courses, including Witchcraft, Magic and Religion. She taught in the first semester of the program, introducing students to three major world religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) .
Meredith Browne was coordinator from 2005-2010 and has many happy memories of her Liberal Arts students including going to the National Gallery in Ottawa, all the museums in Montreal, our fabulous field trips to the Redpath, the opera, the retirement parties with cake and sangria, and drinking endless cups of tea in class.
Ellen Moore was a fabulous and devoted coordinator who shepherded many cohorts of Liberal Arts students though the sometimes high, but exhilarating, seas of a Liberal Arts DEC. She did her best to teach Meredith everything there was to know about coordinating the program. All of us are doing our best to live up to her example.
Gerry Lavalley was a founding coordinator of the program. He and Ellen were a tremendous team
